HOW DO PLUG-IN HYBRID CARS WORK?

Plug-in hybrid cars are run by two power sources: a conventional fuel-powered engine and an electric motor that’s driven by a battery – which can be charged up either at home or a public charging station. This gives you the choice to drive in pure electric mode for those shorter journeys, before seamlessly switching to the combustion engine when required – driving exactly as your usual fuel-powered car would.

Do plug-in hybrid cars need charging?

This battery is smaller than that of an all-electric car and can charged using a regular household socket or at a public charging station. If you ever run out of charge, you can simply drive using just engine power.
Do plug-in hybrid cars pay congestion charge?

As of 2021, most hybrid cars no longer qualify for the London congestion charge discount. To avoid paying this charge, you will have to opt for a zero-emission all-electric car.
